happy birthday, america!

i really look forward to fourth of july every year.  i love sunny weather, BBQing, fireworks, and being with family and/or friends.  so naturally it's a holiday that i get excited about.  we started the day off at the pool and barbecued for lunch.

later that day we drove into the city to visit navy pier.  it was actually my first time going, even though we lived here last summer.  we strolled down the pier, took lots of pictures, and got a quick bite to eat before the fireworks. i must say, though, NEVER go to navy pier on the fourth of july. not to say we didn't have a good time, but there were literally people EVERYWHERE.  as soon as the fireworks were over, there was a swarm of people trying to make their way off the pier. we literally had people touching us on every side of our bodies.  i about had an anxiety attack thinking about how many germs were surrounding me. it took us like 30 minutes just to get off the pier.  it probably would have been better to jump in the water and swim to shore. no joke.

anyways, the fireworks were good, but i've seen better.  good thing we had good friends to spend the day with :)

the city really is beautiful at night....

hope everyone had a good fourth of july! :)
