Mini Projects

Here are two little projects that I did during the week.  I'm pleased with the turn out.  The best part was that most of the paint and supplies I used were in my dad's garage.  Worked out great!

This was a little storage box that I used when I was little for hair clips, jewelry etc.  Obviously it needed an update...

And here it is new and improved!

My second project was an old clock that had been in storage.  It was my great grandma's so we wanted to keep it in the family.  However, it was quite outdated and wasn't going to be hung.  SO, I painted it!  And i love how it turned out.

Obviously before I even dusted the old thing...

The day I painted the clock it was SO nice outside.  So I decided to throw on a suit and get some sun.  Stupid, stupid me.  I didn't realize how long I was out there or how much sun I was really getting.  Check it out...

Yeah. Ouch.  Thank you UTAH for making me so white.  I don't think I have ever been so burnt in my life. Ugh.

Change of Plans

Alright so in one of my last posts I said that I was staying in Provo for the summer. WELP, plans have changed. I will now get to spend the summer with my wonderful husband! Yay! Turns out that a nanny job I was going to take fell through and I realized I could take a few classes online. So the only thing keeping me in Provo would be my catering job. Not a good enough reason to be away from B for four months. So we will officially be living in Chicago again this summer. I have to say I was pretty bummed when he told me that's where we were going. I was really excited for some new adventures and different scenery. BUT, what can I do? After talking to B, (aka pouting) he made me feel much better. I don't even know why I was bummed in the first place. I just kinda had a bad taste in my mouth about Chicago, mostly because the last week and a half we were there I was incredibly sick. I could not get out of bed and I felt like I was dying. K, a little dramatic but it just sucked. Plus we were NEWLY newly weds and all I wanted to do was spend every minute with Branson. I was not a happy camper when he would leave for work every day. But this year we have a ton of friends and even some family that will be going out with us. I am really looking forward to it.

As for right now, I am in California for about a week or so spending time with my familia. It had been a long time since I had seen them and it feels great to be home. Unfortunately, the husband is still in Provo finishing finals. I finished all of mine by Tuesday and bounced as soon as I was done. It was a quick decision and I basically packed everything for the summer in a couple of hours. I'm sure I missed a thing or two.

One thing I love about being home is that my dad always has new ideas for home improvement. He LOVES projects and the best part is, so do I!!! I was blogging this morning and came across a ton of blogs that I fell in love with. Most of them were furniture blogs and here are some of the amazing before and after pictures that I adore...

Before...(sick)

After...(Amazing!)

And one more...

I already have a mini project going that I will have to post soon.  And my dad informed me that he has some old furniture that I can have and transform. I'm really excited about this new little (or big) hobby that I have discovered.  DI, Goodwill, here I come!

You can find more of these pictures here, here, and here!

Team Holla

Branson made a big accomplishment this past week.  As many of you probably know, he plays on about four or five (I can't even keep track) intramural leagues with a bunch of his best friends.  Mostly basketball and then one football league.  They have even done softball and kickball.  They are ALL about it.  He's been playing with the same boys for about four years now.  A bunch of the guys are graduating/got jobs/leaving Provo etc., so this was their last year to play together.  Their goal was to win both division-1 football and division-1 basketball through BYU.  They won the football league during the fall, so that left the basketball league.  Last Wednesday was the championship game and it was by far the most intense game I have watched yet.  I know how much these boys wanted to win this, so that made it all the more nerve racking. We were down about 15 points at one point, so I have to say I had my doubts.  Sure enough though they pulled through with a victory.  Turns out they were the first team in BYU history to win both leagues.  Pretty impressive.

 Team Holla
 We won by three! Victory!
They've never been so happy to win a T-shirt...

To celebrate the win, the team + the wives + some friends went out to Happy Sumo last night (Thanks to Marie Woodfield-John's mom- who took us out, Her treat! ).  At just our table alone there was about 10 of us, and we ordered at least 25 rolls plus appetizers.  There was not even a crumb left.  The bill came out to be over 300 after tip....and that's with half off sushi!!  It's amazing how much those guys can eat.  Anyway, it was a blast celebrating and watching these boys play.  It couldn't have ended any better!

Sopa de Tortilla

I made some pretttty darn delicious tortilla soup for dinner tonight. I had a ton of canned foods that needed to be eaten, so I scrummaged a little something together.  The best part- guess how long it took me? I'd say 10 minutes max! Me likey...

 Tortilla Soup

3 cans of chicken broth (w/out MSG)
2 cans of black beans
1 13 oz. can of chicken breast
1 can of corn
1 can of stewed tomatoes
1 cup of salsa

Empty all cans without draining and heat till hot.  Top bowls of soup with grated cheddar cheese, sour cream, avocado, and crushed tortilla chips. Yummy :)

Randommm

I have realized that I have a lot of NEEDS.  Branson calls them WANTS, but I call them needs.  Okay fine, I don't need them but I desperately want them.  One thing being this:

What I like to call an idesktop, aka iMac.  (I really did think it was called that and when I told Branson I wanted the "idesktop", he about DIED.)  I have an HP laptop which isn't horrible, but it's time to let the little guy go.  It doesn't last more than 45 minutes unless it's plugged in charging.  Which is not always possible in the massive classrooms at BYU that only have like two plugs. Plus it freezes on me constantly.  I'm surprised I haven't thrown it against the wall yet. So, instead of getting another laptop, I want this.  I only have a year left of school and then what will I use a laptop for?  I would much, much rather have a desktop.  So that's number one on my wish list :)

Ballet Blast

So tonight was my second night attending BALLET BLAST, which is a cardio workout intertwined with ballet and jazz technique.  Let me just say... I. LOVE. IT! It really is my new favorite workout.  The girl that teaches the class is so darn cute and so talented.  I'm a little obsessed.  It's an hour long workout and she teaches 3 classes a week.  The only sucky part is that it's in Lehi, but it is well worth the drive.  All the info is on the link above.  If anyone wants to come, please join! :)  You don't have to have any dance training either, just fyi.

Update

Life has been pretty busy.  Nothing too exciting, mostly just getting ready for finals, work, and the summer-which I am starting to dread.  Branson will be out selling in either Denver or Chicago for the first two months of summer and then has an internship in Las Vegas for the second half.  I will be in school for spring semester to get caught up so that Branson and I can graduate together next spring. I will still do catering at GoodWood and then hopefully I have a nannying job that I will do part time. Plus a couple little side jobs for fun.  I'm hoping I will be SO busy making money that the two months will fly by.  Crossing my fingers.  Second half of summer will be much better since I won't be in school.  This is our last summer we will have to spend apart, so I'm at least grateful for that, and excited to see where we end up after graduation.  That is crazy to me that I will be graduating in a year.  Where has the time gone?

Regardless of being apart from my lover boy, a few things are getting me through the summer.

First, one of my best friends, Mandy, is getting married in July.  I'm so, so, SO excited for her!

Second, me and Branson are thinking about making a trip to....

EUROPE!

I shouldn't get too excited, because it all depends on how well the summer goes and if we can afford it.  But even having that little bit of hope will get me through.
